Muslims are leaving Islam. Here is what can be counted.
Nobody counts apostasy, and in most of the Muslim world admitting it is a crime, so no honest site can show a live number of Muslims leaving Islam. This page shows what can be measured: the published surveys, the reach of the channels taking the gospel to Muslims, and the people who say in their own words, under those channels' videos, that they have left Islam or found Christ. "The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few" (Matthew 9:37).

under 24 videos since 31 October 2026; each person counted once
How the count works: we began counting on 31 October 2026. Each build reads the newest comments under the latest videos of the channels below and counts the writers who say, in the first person, that they have left Islam ("I left Islam", "I'm an ex-Muslim") or come to Christ ("I accepted Jesus", "I was baptized"). Questions, reports about other people and denials are not counted. Each person is counted once, by an anonymous code; no names or comments are stored. It is a floor, not a total: most who leave never say so anywhere.
What the surveys say
750,000–950,000
Christians in Iran, almost all converts
An anonymous online survey of about 50,000 Iranians found 1.5% calling themselves Christian, 22% with no religion and 9% atheist. Only a third still identified as Shia Muslims, in a country whose government reports 99% Muslim.
Open Doors ranks the Iranian church among the fastest-growing in the world, meeting in homes, fed by satellite television, Farsi Bibles and, in testimony after testimony, dreams of Jesus.
More Muslims in 2020 than in 2010, almost all by birth
Islam is still the fastest-growing religion in numbers because Muslim families are young and large; Pew finds Muslims among the groups least likely to change religion where it can be measured, which is to say outside the countries where it is a crime.
In December 2000 the Libyan cleric Ahmad al-Qataani told Al Jazeera that six million African Muslims were becoming Christians every year. Nobody has substantiated the figure; it is quoted here as his alarm, not as a count.

Google's own record of how often people search for "ex muslim": worldwide over five years, and where the searches come from. A rising line in a Muslim country is the exodus asking its first question.
